The Story So Far

A Quick Timeline

Here are some key dates in our cancer story.

• January 5, 2019 – Andrew and Hannah get married.
• February 2019 – Andrew is diagnosed with Testicular Cancer and has a same day surgery to try and prevent it from spreading
• March – Mid-July 2019 – Andrew’s counts look good and we prepared for the all clear
• July 23, 2019 – The Doctor Informs Andrew that the cancer has spread to a 9mm growth on his lung. Chemo treatments will be needed.
• August 5, 2019 – Andrew began Chemo Treatments.

The treatment plan

Our treatment plan is a 7 week process made up of three cycles. In each cycle Andrew receives several different drugs.

The “Big Weeks”

In week one of each cycle Andrew has treatment 8 hours a day for 5 days in a row. These “Big Weeks” are pretty tough and the challenge is to manage nausea and keep his weight up.

Andrew’s Big week Schedule

• Week one (August 5 – 9) – COMPLETE!
• Week four (August 26 – 30)
• Week seven (September 16 – 20)

“Off” Weeks

On the “off” Weeks Andrew goes in for a half day single drug treatment on Mondays. He also has lab work done to monitor his white blood cell counts and other blood markers in-order to make sure they can continue treatments.

Prayer Requests & Needs

While all of our immediate food and housing needs are covered, prayers for health, strength and peace are much appreciated.

Rather than meals, flowers, or fruit baskets here is a short list of items we would appreciate.

• Follow along on this blog for updates related to health issues and talk about other things when you are with us!
• If you are a member at Madison North there is a prayer plan being coordinated by Katie and Josh. Please reach out to them if you would like to be added.
• Gift cards to Meijer (Andrew’s favorite place to shop), Olga’s (Hannah’s favorite restaurant), Apple Bees (Favorite date night activity), and Celebration Cinema (Andrew loves to watch movies) would bring us joy both now and after Andrew gets healthy!
• Volunteers to help us move/paint/care for our new house after we close in September.
